Hi! I’m Elena, and I’m excited to be the newest addition to the JHP Visuals team as Sustainability Coordinator. We’re a small, close-knit group of five who are passionate about storytelling through film, and equally passionate about protecting the planet we all share.

My connection to the environment began early. I grew up in the Cairngorm National Park in the Scottish Highlands, surrounded by forests and mountains that helped shape who I am and my interest in sustainability. Most of my days were spent outdoors, whether walking, cycling, skiing or climbing. These landscapes are home for me, and seeing the changes they have undergone in just the past two decades has been hard to ignore.

Over the past two decades, I have witnessed significant changes to these outdoor spaces. The weather has become more unpredictable, winters warmer and storms more frequent and destructive. Summers now bring an increased risk of wildfires, and the ski seasons, once a highlight of the year, have shortened dramatically. Scotland’s ten warmest years on record have all happened in my lifetime. The impact is undeniable, affecting not only the environment but also the people and wildlife that depend on it.

Despite these challenges, I have also seen a shift in attitudes and action. More people are coming together to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss, finding ways to reconnect with nature and work towards solutions. That collective energy is what gives me hope. At JHP Visuals, we aim to capture and share stories of this hope and collaboration through our sustainability-focused video content.

Photos 1–3 are from the woods behind my house, just two minutes away. I spent hours exploring here growing up. The ‘Duck Pond’ was a favourite spot, freezing solid in winter for evenings of cross-country skiing, a magical childhood memory. Photo 4 is Loch an Eilean. Photo 5 & 6 are taken from the hill behind Grantown, this is one of my favourite views, the Cairngorms skyline. I love it so much, I have it tattooed on me.

We understand sustainability can feel overwhelming, especially for small businesses. Since opening in 2020, sustainability has been a core focus of JHP Visuals. We have integrated it into our ethos, aiming to make a positive impact through small but meaningful steps. Whether through adopting sustainable filmmaking practices or creating video content that highlights environmental initiatives, we want to play our part in driving change.

As a video production company specialising in outdoor adventure and environmental storytelling, we are in a unique position to inspire others. Our work connects us with businesses and organisations across Scotland and the UK, allowing us to create powerful sustainability videos that spark conversations and encourage action.

One of my key roles at JHP Visuals is to ensure our filmmaking practices reflect our values. From minimising waste on shoots to selecting environmentally conscious equipment and suppliers, we are continually looking for ways to reduce our impact. Through our projects, we aim to amplify the voices of those making a difference, whether that is a company unveiling its sustainability strategy or a grassroots group championing biodiversity.

We believe that even the smallest changes, when done collectively, can create a ripple effect. By showcasing these stories through our videos and photography, we hope to inspire others to care, take action and feel hopeful about the future.

At JHP Visuals, sustainability is more than just a buzzword. It is a journey we are on, both as a company and as individuals. Through our work, we want to help businesses communicate their sustainability efforts and, in doing so, foster a deeper connection with their audiences.

If your business is looking to share its sustainability story or explore how video can help communicate your environmental initiatives, we would love to chat. Together, we can use the power of storytelling to inspire positive change.
